International Wildfire Activity

Japan Wildfires Today

Copernicus coverage is still being refreshed for Japan, so the recent fire picture is not complete yet. The latest NASA FIRMS satellite snapshot is still loading. A missing heat count should not be read as an all-clear.

Updated Sep 30, 2026

For confirmed incidents, warnings and evacuation information in Japan, follow national and local authorities.

Map key: fire pins show recent Copernicus fire areas; orange and red marks show NASA satellite heat. A Copernicus fire area is not automatically a named official incident, and one wildfire can create several heat detections.

Recent fires in Japan

Recent Copernicus fire areas from the latest available seven-day coverage. They show where burned area was recorded and when the source observed it, but they do not by themselves confirm current flames, containment or official incident status.

Fire records load separately so the country page itself does not wait on external incident sources. Contains modified Copernicus Service information 2026.

How to read Japan activity

The country view uses NASA FIRMS satellite heat detections as its live signal. A cluster can contain several observations from one fire, so the number of detections should not be read as the number of separate wildfires.

How individual fire pages work

WildfireSignal uses Copernicus burned-area data to build individual fire pages with location, size and source dates. These pages are kept separate from officially named incidents because Copernicus data alone does not provide containment, evacuation or incident-command status.

Official and satellite wildfire sources for Japan

WildfireSignal uses NASA FIRMS for its satellite heat-detection layer and links to official sources for wildfire context. For confirmed incidents, warnings, evacuation orders and other emergency information, rely on official national and local authorities.
