These terms govern use of WildfireSignal maps, dashboards, preparedness content and other informational features.
Last updated September 29, 2026.
Do not rely on WildfireSignal for evacuation, road-closure, shelter, firefighting or other life-safety decisions. Follow local emergency managers, fire and law-enforcement agencies, weather services and other official authorities.
Acceptance of these terms
By accessing or using WildfireSignal, you agree to these Terms of Use and the related Privacy Policy and Data Disclaimer. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
Operator and governing law
WildfireSignal is operated by Ink Design Studio LLC, based in Orlando, Florida, United States. These Terms and your use of WildfireSignal are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except to the extent that applicable law requires otherwise. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot legally be waived.
Informational use only
WildfireSignal provides wildfire maps, incident summaries, satellite observations, preparedness information and links for general information and situational awareness. It is not an emergency-alerting service, firefighting authority, evacuation system, weather service, medical service, legal service or professional safety adviser. Preparedness content is general guidance and cannot account for every person, property, jurisdiction or emergency.
Public and third-party data
Information may come from NASA FIRMS, WFIGS/NIFC, Copernicus EFFIS/GWIS, weather and air-quality services, mapping providers, national or local authorities and other third parties. Data can be delayed, revised, incomplete, unavailable, mislocated or affected by provider outages and sensor limitations. A satellite heat detection is not necessarily a confirmed wildfire, a mapped point is not necessarily a perimeter, and a reported containment value is not an all-clear. Source agencies remain authoritative for their own information.
No warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, WildfireSignal and its content, maps, data, software and links are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. WildfireSignal does not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, complete, current, accurate, or suitable for a particular purpose.
No life-safety reliance
You assume responsibility for verifying consequential information with the appropriate authority. Do not delay evacuation, enter a closed area, change a travel route, remain at a property, fight a fire, or make another safety-critical decision because of something shown or not shown on WildfireSignal.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, WildfireSignal and its owners, operators, contributors and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or similar damages, or for losses involving personal injury, property damage, lost profits, lost data, business interruption, missed warnings, delayed information or reliance on site content arising from use of or inability to use the site. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so these provisions apply only to the extent permitted by law.
Acceptable use
You may use the public site for lawful personal, educational, journalistic and research purposes. Do not disrupt or overload the service, probe or bypass security controls, scrape at a rate that harms availability, introduce malicious code, impersonate WildfireSignal or an authority, misrepresent WildfireSignal information as an official emergency order, or use the site in violation of applicable law.
Intellectual property and source rights
WildfireSignal’s original branding, design, code and original written content are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Public and third-party datasets, maps, trademarks and linked materials remain subject to the rights, licenses, attribution requirements and terms of their respective owners. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of third-party data to WildfireSignal.
Source names, trademarks and no endorsement
Names such as NASA, NIFC, Copernicus, CWFIS, OpenStreetMap, Esri and the names of public fire agencies are used only to identify data sources, providers or linked authorities. Their names, trademarks and official symbols remain the property of their respective owners. Unless WildfireSignal expressly says otherwise, source attribution does not mean that a provider sponsors, approves, operates or endorses WildfireSignal.
Third-party software and map services
WildfireSignal uses third-party software and services subject to their own licenses and terms, including Leaflet, OpenStreetMap and other mapping/data services. Required attribution should remain visible when maps, screenshots or other derived materials are reused. Some WildfireSignal-generated social artwork uses Esri World Imagery with source attribution embedded in the image. Third-party license notices distributed with the WildfireSignal plugin remain part of the applicable license terms.
Advertising, affiliate links and third-party products
WildfireSignal may display advertising or, in the future, affiliate links. Advertising, sponsored relationships or affiliate relationships will be disclosed where required. Unless expressly stated, a link, advertisement or product reference is not a WildfireSignal warranty or endorsement. Purchases and use of third-party products or services are between you and the relevant seller or provider and are subject to their terms.
External services
Links and embedded services from government agencies, data providers, map providers and other third parties are provided for convenience and context. WildfireSignal does not control those services and is not responsible for their content, security, availability, privacy practices or separate terms.
Changes, suspension and availability
Features, coverage areas, data sources and these Terms may change as WildfireSignal evolves. The site or any feature may be modified, suspended or discontinued, and WildfireSignal does not guarantee uninterrupted availability. The updated date on this page identifies the current version of these Terms.
