Who operates WildfireSignal
WildfireSignal is operated by Ink Design Studio LLC, based in Orlando, Florida, United States. Privacy questions and requests can be submitted through the contact page.
Information WildfireSignal may process
Hosting, security and server systems may receive technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, including IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, timestamps, referrer information and diagnostic or security logs. WildfireSignal uses this information for site delivery, fraud and abuse prevention, security, troubleshooting and service reliability.
If you use the contact form, WildfireSignal receives the name, email address, topic and message you submit. The plugin emails that message to the site administrator and does not save it as a WordPress form entry. Mail and hosting providers may retain related records under their own settings and policies. To reduce automated abuse, the form creates a short-lived rate-limit token derived from the submitting IP address and email address; the token expires after about one minute and the plugin does not store the raw IP address in that token.
Google Analytics, advertising and consent
WildfireSignal can use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 to measure site and map usage. The privacy controls separate optional Analytics from optional Advertising. Analytics controls analytics storage and analytics measurement. Advertising controls ad storage, ad user data and ad personalization when Google advertising features are enabled.
WildfireSignal may use Google publisher advertising products such as AdSense in the future. When advertising is active, Google and approved advertising partners may receive information such as the page URL, IP address, browser or device information, cookie or device identifiers, and ad interactions as described in their policies. Third parties may place or read cookies or use web beacons, IP addresses or similar technologies as part of ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention and, when permitted, personalization. See How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Optional categories default to denied until a visitor makes a choice. If Advanced Consent Mode is enabled, Google Tag Manager may load before a choice with optional consent denied, allowing consent-aware Google tags to send limited consent-state or cookieless measurement signals while optional storage remains denied. You can reopen Privacy choices at any time to change your selection.
Cookies and local storage
WildfireSignal uses necessary browser storage to operate the site and remember privacy choices. The WildfireSignal consent choice is retained for up to 180 days unless you clear it sooner. Analytics or advertising cookies are used only according to the consent settings and the behavior of the enabled Google services. Clearing browser storage may cause the privacy choices to be shown again.
External map and code services
Interactive maps use OpenStreetMap tiles. When a map is displayed, your browser requests map tiles from OpenStreetMap servers, which means normal request information such as IP address, browser information and referring site information can be received by that provider under its own policies. Map pages also load the Leaflet mapping library from the unpkg content-delivery network; the library files are pinned to a specific version and protected with Subresource Integrity checks, but unpkg can receive normal web-request information when those files are requested.
WildfireSignal also uses server-side services such as OpenStreetMap Nominatim for limited place-label enrichment and Esri World Imagery for some social-media artwork. Those server-side requests are made by WildfireSignal rather than directly by the visitor browser. Attribution and provider terms still apply.
Why information is processed
WildfireSignal processes technical delivery and security information to operate, protect and troubleshoot the service. Contact information is processed to respond to the request you chose to send. Optional analytics or advertising technologies are controlled by the available privacy choices and consent settings. Where applicable law requires a specific legal basis, WildfireSignal relies on consent for optional technologies and on legitimate operational interests or service necessity for essential delivery, security and abuse prevention, subject to applicable rights and limits.
Advertising choices and Global Privacy Control
WildfireSignal does not sell personal information for monetary consideration. Depending on applicable law, some advertising or cross-site personalization activity can be treated as a sale or sharing of personal information even when no money changes hands. The Advertising control is provided to turn optional advertising storage and personalization signals off.
When a supported browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, WildfireSignal treats it as an advertising opt-out for that browser and keeps Advertising off. You can also use the persistent Privacy choices control to review your settings.
International advertising consent
If WildfireSignal begins serving Google publisher ads to visitors in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom or Switzerland, the site must use an appropriate Google-certified consent management platform where Google requires one for publisher advertising. The built-in WildfireSignal privacy controls are designed for site analytics and consent signals but are not represented as a substitute for a certified publisher CMP where one is required.
Data retention
Consent preferences are stored for up to 180 days. Contact messages may remain in the site administrator’s email system for as long as reasonably needed to respond, document a correction or partnership request, maintain security, or meet legal obligations. Hosting and security logs are retained according to provider settings. Google services retain data according to the site’s configured product settings and Google’s own policies.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of certain personal information, to withdraw consent, or to opt out of certain advertising-related sale or sharing. These rights can be subject to legal exceptions and identity-verification requirements. Use the contact page to make a privacy request.
Children's privacy
WildfireSignal is a general-audience information service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly ask children under 13 to submit personal information through the contact form. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so the request can be reviewed and the information deleted where appropriate.
External services and public data
WildfireSignal displays or links to public data and official resources operated by organizations such as NASA, NIFC, the National Weather Service, AirNow, Copernicus EFFIS/GWIS, OpenStreetMap, Esri and state or national authorities. Those organizations and any other external websites have their own privacy practices, terms and data-handling rules. Source names are used for factual attribution and do not imply that WildfireSignal is affiliated with or endorsed by those organizations.
Policy changes and contact
This policy may be updated as WildfireSignal adds features, advertising services or data providers. Material changes will be reflected by the updated date on this page. Questions about privacy can be sent through the contact page.
